Dam engineer cultivation projects
The Japan Dam Engineering Center plays a major role as the network for mastering new engineering and exchanging knowledge by gathering engineers concerned with dams and enabling exchanges between them.
Licensing of both the independent patents and joint patents owned by the Japan Dam Engineering Center is free of charge in principle for projects undertaken by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Field engineering research meetings
Once a year, the Japan Dam Engineering Center holds research meetings on site, permitting young dam engineers employed by prefectural governments and by the regional bureaus of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure,Transport and Tourism to deepen their knowledge of dam execution works by learning about the state of execution at dam construction sites, and to learn practical dam engineering matching the condition of construction sites and supervision.

Group discussion
Dam technology research conferences
Once a year, the Japan Dam Engineering Center holds a presentation conference which solicits papers on dam technologies in order to contribute to the exchange and study of information on the most advanced technologies and to the improvement of technologies of engineers involved in dam projects.

Overseas study and training
The Japan Dam Engineering Center sponsors overseas dam technology study and training in order to survey the present condition of dams in foreign countries for the purpose of improving dam engineering, and to nurture high levels of knowledge. Participants who are dam engineers working for prefectural governments are recruited.
Their participation costs are subsidized from a technology nurturing fund established by the Japan Dam Engineering Center. These programs are implemented by setting major themes such as RCC execution technologies, aseismic technologies, environment conservation technologies, etc., and by setting regions and dams suited to these themes.

On-the-job training
The Japan Dam Engineering Center employs engineers dispatched by regional administrative bodies.
At the JDEC on-the-job training given through daily work can efficiently improve their qualifications as engineers, and these engineers will be responsible for work related to dam projects throughout Japan.
